Tenebrae Service at MACC, Friday, April 15, 7:00 p.m.

The word “Tenebrae” comes from the Latin meaning “darkness”. This solemn service is an ancient Christian Good Friday service where candles are gradually extinguished throughout the evening to symbolize the events of the week in between Palm Sunday entry through Jesus’ burial. The increasing darkness symbolizes the approaching darkness of Jesus’ death and of hopelessness in the world without God. It’s a meaningful time creating tension and anticipation of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
